Happy New Year and I hope you all had a festive and jolly break.
Normality has returned, accompanied by mountains of left over chocolates, the odd sad mince pie and various strange bottles of alcoholic beverage that are never drunk at any other time of the year!
On a speedy garden survey, taken in between preparing yet another unnecessary meal and lying limply in front of terrible telly consuming indigestion tablets, I made a joyous discovery.
The Hellebores are coming!
(I keep having the urge to sing Hellebores are coming, Hellebores are coming to the CocaCola 'Holidays are coming' advert song tune - no? I need to get out more obviously)
Anyway they are definitely on the way.
The Corsican Hellebore is in full flower already...
The single yellow that I moved in the autumn and which didn't flower at all last year is doing it's thing...
The single speckled pink has buds...
and the early double dark pink has too.
Now is the time to start cutting back the old foliage so that the new growth is evident and to avoid Hellebore leaf spot. Then sit back and enjoy!
Right time to look up this years Bosvigo House Hellebore Open Day and get it in the diary - that's always something to look forward to.
You can see what happened last time I went here.
